Repository for Publications on BOHS and similar initiatives. Second, improved and extended edition

The second edition of the Repository for Publications on Basic Occupational Health Services and similar initiatives, is a unique digital collection of records referring to publications on Basic Occupational Health Services (BOHS) and related innovations. This second edition in 2025 offers not only a two times larger collection than the first edition in 2022, but also an excellent readability, and a comprehensive search system.

Occupational or workers’ health care can be organized in various ways: in a basic form, an ‘expert-based occupational health services’ form, a hospital-based form, and online.

The basic form, so-called ‘basic occupational health services’ (BOHS), is mostly integrated in primary or community (public) health care. This set-up is, in general, most appropriate for informal workers, migrant workers, workers in agriculture or in small enterprises, and self-employed. Think also about the 58 % of all workers globally who are working in informal employment, often in hazardous working conditions causing accidents and serious diseases.

Basic Occupational Health Services (BOHS) are focused on essential workers’ health issues such as the prevention of work-related and occupational diseases, accidents and stress, and support of workers hindered at work or disabled by a disease or handicap.

You can use this free Repository to find a wealth of information largely based on systematic literature searches. The collection offers for each of the 365 publications included a description of the content, bibliographic data, and free access to about 90% of the complete publications. The books, reports, scientific articles, policy documents and lectures inform you about the state of the art and studies in more than 45 countries. Using the search system, you can find the vision and considerations of international organizations such as WHO, ILO, ICOH, WONCA, IAOH, IEA, and WIEGO. The publications are covering the years 2000-2024.

A free available scientific article on the development of the first edition of the collection has been published in March 2023: Link to article
